The General Data Protection Regulation will be applied from 25 May 2018 onwards

The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will be applied from 25 May 2018 onwards to all companies and organisations processing personal data in the EEA. The aim of the new regulation is to increasingly emphasise the customers’ right to decide on their data and the use of their personal data.

The careful and legal processing of your personal data is of primary importance for Local Register Offices. We process your personal data in compliance with data protection legislation and good data management and processing practices.

Local Register Offices maintain several public registers. Our registers containing key personal data include registers such as the Register of Guardianship Affairs, the Population Information System (jointly with the Population Register Centre) and the Register of Marital Contract Affairs.

The main purpose of our registers is to provide data to the authorities and other organisations requiring information. The processing of personal data is based on our official tasks determined in legislation.

The privacy notices for the personal registers we maintain are available on the Maistraatti.fi website.
