ROAD MAP eService guides employers and foreign employees to necessary authority services

 Practical advice saves time

Necessary authority services for foreign employees are, for example, entry permits to Finland, registration for personal identity code and municipality of residence at the Local Register Office (maistraatti), ordering of a tax card in the Tax Office  and applying for social insurance coverage from the social insurance institution, KELA. “The need for these services depends on the country of origin of the foreigner. The length of the stay in Finland is also a determining factor”, states project manager Saara Leppänen.

The ROAD MAP eService “asks” a series of simple questions. Both employer and employee receive simple “step by step” guidance on authority services, and links to authorities’ webpages.

Awareness of the necessary authority services is important

The required authority services in the employment process are all important, and one of the purposes of the service is that, for example, employers are being informed of the whole process. It is very much in the benefit of the employer that their foreign employee knows how to take care of all necessary authority visits.
